L’ Edicola Votiva takes its name from the votive “pylon” on the façade of the building. The careful restoration of the structure has brought back the typical features of the older local architecture. The white bottom, the exposed stone, the irregular plaster, the resonant charm of the monumental star vaults. The recovery and exclusive use of natural materials from Lecce stone, widely used in local construction, to the carparo earthenware stairs that have deliberately remained unchanged in their beauty for an authentic journey into the memory of the past. The absolute domination of white, the aesthetics of building materials so as not to stray from the territorial identity. Contaminations of the Mediterranean vernacular architecture in the masonry furnishings, in the seats and in the numerous niches recovered in the structure. Rural design mixed with handcrafted works and artifacts for a balance that favors the sense of essentiality to exalt the history and authenticity of Salento.
